Disclaimer
This unit set structure may be updated and amended immediately prior to semester. To ensure you have the correct outline, please check it again at the beginning of semester.
This unit set is available in the following courses:
Y83 BACHELOR OF SCIENCE
Y88 BACHELOR OF SCIENCE BACHELOR OF BUSINESS
Physics is the fundamental science that underpins research and development in Engineering and Technology. The Physics major provides students with a thorough background in fundamental and advanced physics with a strong emphasis on scientific instrumentation, measurement and analytical skills. It is designed to meet industries' need for capable, dynamic and innovative graduates with welldeveloped analytical and problemsolving skills and a sound theoretical knowledge in physics. The Physics major gives students a 'handson' and practical understanding of Physics. Laboratorybased programs and projects are included in all units to encourage practical learning. The major is available to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science (Course Code Y83) degree course.

UNIT SET LOCATION This unit set is available on Joondalup Campus.

MODE OF DELIVERY This unit set is available in the following mode of delivery Oncampus.

CORE UNITS
Students choose 120 credit points (eight units), with at least two units at Level 3 (or above). Students are advised to consult with the Physics Coordinator as to the selection of the most appropriate physics, mathematics and engineering units leading to this major.
Students should choose 7 units from the following list, plus one elective unit at Level 3 (or above) from the School of Engineering.

SCP1111

* Students who have not completed WACE Physics 3A/3B (or equivalent) need to complete SCP1132 Introduction to Physics or SCP1134 Foundations of Physics before studying SCP1111 or SCP1112 or SCP2343.
~ SCP1112 and SCP2343 may be offered in alternate years. Students can take them in any order.
^ Students who have not completed WACE Mathematics 3A/3B (or equivalent) need to complete MAT1137 Introductory Applied Mathematics before studying MAT1236.

ELECTIVE UNITS
Students should choose one Level 3 (or above) unit from units available in the School of Engineering, in consultation with the Physics Coordinator. Suitable units include those listed below:

ENS3190
Mechanics of Solids
15 MAT3486
Multivariate Calculus
15 ENS3180
Finite Element Methods
15 ENS3447
Propagation and Antennas
